X Factor Italia: The final - LIVE -

The final of X Factor Italia has just started on Raidue. Still no confirmation if the winner will go to Eurovision or was it just talk. Take That and Elisa are guests of the show and we can expect duets with Skunk Anasie, Francesco Renga and Federico Zampaglione with the three remaining singers Davide Mogevero, Nathalie Giannitrapani and Nevruz Joku. Davide seems to be the favourite for victory....
*In the press conference during the show the director Liofredi said nothing about Eurovision nor Sanremo so it's looking bad. The first duet, Nevruz & Zambaglione with Per me é importante on stage now.
*Natahalie & Skunk Anansie on stage next with Follow me down. Followed by Davide & Francesco Renga with Renga's Sanremo winner Angelo.
*Ok, as usual for any Italian show, it's been on hour one hour and we have heard the singers only once so far. It's going to be a long night.... and remembering Davide is under 18 he cannot perform after midnight (yes, some Italian law!) ... I hope they wrap this up before midnight or poor guy may miss the moment of his life by watching it on TV on prerecorded video instead of being on stage and celebrating! (It has already happened in Sanremo with some underage singers.....)
*As usual I'm happily stealing most of this info from Dove c'é musica. Great blog in Italian about Eurovision, Sanremo and music in general.Grazie Emanuele! :-)
*Nathalie starts the round of original songs. This year X Factor songs haven't really set the iTunes on fire like last year and since these new songs were presented last year none of them even made top-100. Last year the singers got in to the charts even with covers.... Nevruz follows so Davide is again the last one to perform.
* Take That with The flood next. Or is it Robbie Williams ft. Take That?
*Televoting has closed.
*Nathalie and Davide go on, Nevruz is out as expected. He started the show as unemployed worker and may end up as unemployed singer. Nathalie, an original singer-songwriter or teenage heartdrop Davide? We will know (hoping Davide makes it in time to sing before midnight...)
*Premio della critica is handed out next, it could go to any of the singers that took part in the series. Decided by the press. Oh? No, ok. Later. Meanwhile fabulous Elisa with her new song Nostalgia.
*Back on track. Davide starts with his medley: Some Negramano, Ligabue and Aerosmith.
*Nathalie does Gianna Nannni, Rita Pavone and Let the sunshine in from Hair.
*Now on stage piano and the two voices belting out Imagine. And midnight is almost here. If Davide wins he cannot sing anymore...... Isn't it time to change the rules/law? Or find new scriptwriters and producers who can keep the time table? I just wonder...
*Time is ticking but Davide has just barely time for his accapella, a song by Zucchero while Nathalie will do Janis Jplin after him.
*It's midnight. Davide (17) is escorted off stage so he can't ask people to vote for him, get his award if he wins and can't perform his song as the winner! Ridiculous! He can only watch it from TV screen backstage or in his hotel or wherever like any viewers. How does it feel to be absent from the party that is made for you? In case he wins? Only in Italy....
*Francesco Renga on stage with Un giorno bellissimo. Let's see if it will be for him a most beautiful day as the writer for Davide's original song.... that Davide can't re-perform in case he wins....
*During the whole show nothing about the nearly promised Eurovision trip for the winner is said - on the other hand it has not been refused either. But at this point I think it's not going to happen, even if I was and wanted to be an optimist.
*Nathalie wins Premio della critica.
*Three hours and 45 minutes..... in time that we easily run full Eurovision final with 25 songs Italy manages to have a show with 3 singers, a dozen songs and one winner: Nathalia Giannitrapani, 31, from Rome.
Buona notte mondo.

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

SONGS OF THE YEAR 2015: #5 KRISTA SIEGFRIDS - ON & OFF

Krista Siegfrids is delivering nice pop tunes one after another and this one is particularly catchy and soon you will be singing along..... Hopefully her Melodifestivalen entry will be equally good!

GOODBYE, FAREWELL...

The time has come. After all these years, 5,7 million visits, 12.000 articles I guess the time has come. As much as I love and care for Eurovision it just doesn't feel the same. The Corona years took their toll and the past two years and certain decisions have helped me to mature the idea that next year I will hear the songs for the first time in semi-final just like any so called local.  The bubble has burst. Add the toxicity in social medias and fandom. The arrogant teenagers who saw their first contest somewhere 2017 or even 2021 who think they know it all and only their opinion matters. Did I mention the toxic atmosphere on social medias? I'm too old for that sh*t. It's been a long ride that took me to various Eurovision on spot as a fan and tourist,  as a journalist, as a delegation member. I met some great people, made memories of lifetime. In stressful, sad periods of my life this blog has been my safe place, a place to escape and forget everything else for an hour o

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further?  No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

Kuunkuiskaajat in Russia!

Kuunkuiskaajat are performing tomorrow in Russia in Sosnogorsk Rock Festival 2010. Apparently the festival has something to do with Finno-Ugric culture and Komi.... I have to investigate that a bit more. Anyways, way to go girls! Meanwhile here they are a couple of weeks ago in Helsinki's Korjaamo .

EUROVISION 2024: BLOGILKAR'S HOME JURY RESULTS REVEAL - PLACES 32.- 37.

Another year, another Home Jury. And mind you, never ever before the results have been so surprising and I must honestly admit so not in line with my own likes and dislikes but what can I do, they have spoken. We voted with scores from 1 to 10 and this year also the scores are all time low and without a runaway winner. Ties were broken by highest individual scores. This year our unprofessional, mildly interested, regular Eurovision viewers included people in their teens, 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's. Both sexes, various locations in Finland added with our exotic Peruvian member to spice things up a little. I will count down the whole ranking in coming days from bottom to the top so please do follow up and comment if you like. Let's go! 32. SPAIN  3,63 33. ARMENIA  3,25 34. ICELAND  3,25 35. GEORGIA  3,25 36. GREECE  3,00 37. MOLDOVA  3,00

EUROVISION 2024: DAY 5 - SEMI-FINAL ONE SECOND REHEARSALS

Today all entries in the semi-final one had their second rehearsals of 20 minutes. Not much to add but Luxemburg had changed the outfit. Or rather added some scarfs on top of it.... Still not good I must admit.  CYPRUS SERBIA LITHUANIA IRELAND UKRAINE  POLAND CROATIA ICELAND SLOVENIA FINLAND MOLDOVA AZERBAIJAN AUSTRALIA PORTUGAL LUXEMBURG Photos as always from eurovision.tv

EUROVISION 2024: DAY 6 - FIRST REHEARSALS OF THE BIG 5 + SWEDEN

The Big 5 are in town and on stage for the first time today for their first 30 minute technical rehearsal. And there are boxes. United Kingdom has a dirty old boxing training hall's shower room where everything seems to go very dizzy indeed a la George Michael's toilet scenes. Germany has a house on fire instead and the box theme continues with Sweden.... France goes all intimate instead and does already the familiar step back from microphone a Capella thing that will go wild in the arena. Can't wait! GREECE: HELENA PAPARIZOU HITS AGAIN WITH HAIDE

Eurovision song contest 2005 winner Helena Paparizou has been enjoying Top-5 hits every year since 2003 with the exception of 2010 and 2014, this latest one being already her 27th! And Haide is charting also in Bulgaria and Finland, of all places. The catchiness of her hits has changed less over the years than her face....  Here's the English version , below the Greek version.
