Sanremo 2012 LIVE

Ok, here we go. The show has started with Luca & Paolo, the comics from last year. I will update when there's something interesting to report. Like the songs!
21.07 Gianni Morandi finally enters the stage. Which is pretty fabulous, it seems. Again by Gaetano Castelli. I hope soon he will be able to create the Eurovision stage! A rather futuristic dance act in space follows. A very nice opener! Some of the dancers were Italian Olympic gymnastics for London 2012. The orchestra has 60 musicians and all is played live. There's a demoscopic jury of 300 persons. Two songs will be dropped out but will have a second chance later.
21.25 Here we go: Dolcenera - Ci vediamo a casa. An uptempo song. Rather catchy. And I like her, she's got a great voice and personality. A very nice start.
21.31 And quickly we move on to Samuele Bersani - Pallone. A kind of song the critics will love. Nice though, a touch of cabaret. And no problems with the voice. He took use of the stage even if alone. And after the song apparently there is a problem with the voting.... the system is blocked!
21.37 enters the co-host Rocco Papaleo.
21.46 finally back to music. Noemi - Sono solo parole. A typical Italian ballad. Reminds me of late Mia Martini a bit, maybe Noemi will sound as rough in 20 years or so? Ok, but nothing more with the first hearing.
21.53 enters Francesco Renga - La tua bellezza. I have never been a fan of his. Even so I guess it's a safe bet to say this song will go far? A rock ballad, typical to his style that he performs with gusto.
21.58 time for debutant Chiara Civello - Al posto del mondo. This is the song that we knew already and it wasn't disqualified after all as "it's totally re-arraned". Anyways, she's supposed to be a great singer but tonight she provides the worst vocals so far even if she gets better towards the end. A retro schlager I would say. Would fit into some movie soundtrack. And anyways this song could not go to Baku 2012 because of the date.
22.05 time for Irene "Zucchero's daughter" Fornaciari - Grande mistero. An uptempo with nice arrangement. Unfortunately the weakest link seems to be Irene herself. Rather nervous performance, over acted. But the song isn't that bad... but didn't she have the same dress last time? or jacket. Whatever.
22.10 Euforia! Even in Sanremo this season's favourite word appears!
22.18 after advertising Morandi is announcing the next act when all of sudden bombs, firing, bloody people, scenes of war and terror take the stage and screens... rather confusing.... and scary. Surely will make people talk. And amongst all that chaos materializes Adriano Celentano.... and starts to talk.... and talk... and talk.... appears Elisabetta Canalis. And he sings.... and talks again. Ok, he's a living legend. And he speaks words of wisdom. But c'mon, in the middle of the show forever and ever? Maybe after the songs? We have still eights songs to hear, more than half of them! Sigh...
22.57 he is gone. So Morandi can talk about him. Anf he re-enters.... oh dear....
23.12 he is gone. I hope. Can we get back to the songs now?
23.19 enters Emma -Non è l'inferno and we are back in business. She's the hot favourite for victory. And who knows? The song starts slowly and grows into an anthem. Great. And she delivers tonight. And she makes me miss Mietta, their voices are very similar at times. Baku?
23.25 enters Marlene Kuntz - Canzone per un figlio. The "only" real Italian rock band it is said. But the song starts like an acoustic ballad by Peppino di Capri. The orchestra enters but it's still a pop song. Rock? I think Emma was more rock than these puppets.
23.34 and finally the call-in girls Elisabetta Canalis and Belen Rodrigues, classe 2011, enter...
23.40 and it's time for Eugenio Finardi - E tu lo chiami Dio. A very typical Finardi song. Beautiful melody with his unique voice. Me likes.
23.45 and we follow directly with the strange couple Gigi D'Alessio-Loredana Bertè - Respirare. Loredana is doing her show while Gigi tries to keep up and looks like a schoolboy next to a drag queen. But hey, the song isn't bad at all. Quite groovy and Loredana behaves after all.
23.53 it's Nina Zilli - Per sempre. One of the Eurovision favourites. Let's see. Hmm. I may need to hear this again but I like it! Great retro feeling and look. And she's fantastic!
00.02 we are back after advertising and short TV-news and Rocco Papaleo has his little space of the show. Yawn... Oh, and the stream is gone?!

Ok. Can't connect to teatro Ariston anymore. Did the snowstorm hit Sanremo as well as here it's snowing so much I don't know how to get to work tomorrow... I'll recap tomorrow the last three songs. Buona notte!

Pierdavide Carone ft. Lucio Dalla - Nani. Another prostitute song? Oh well. Quite nice, but that's all.
Arisa - La notte. Beautiful simple ballad and she's sweet. Without funny eyeglasses and funny songs she still makes a mark. Great! Would be a nice touch for Baku 2012!
Matia Bazar - Sei tu. Silvia mezzanotte has returned to the lead singer and this formation of Matia Bazar has already won Sanremo once (and once with the original one, with Antonella Ruggiero who also did Eurovision).  Typical Matia Bazar song in good and bad. Pleasantly flows from one ear to another and vanishes and you find yourself singing to Spagna's Gente come noi instead.

And guess what? There was no elimination as the voting system didn't work out as planned! So all 14 songs are still in the race. And these 14 songs with the first hearing aren't exactly earthshakingly good. None of them. Who knows how the voting will go once it works? We still have some 12 possible winners....

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

SONGS OF THE YEAR 2015: #5 KRISTA SIEGFRIDS - ON & OFF

Krista Siegfrids is delivering nice pop tunes one after another and this one is particularly catchy and soon you will be singing along..... Hopefully her Melodifestivalen entry will be equally good!

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further?  No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

Blogilkar exclusive: PASHA PARFENI INTERVIEW

My flying reporter Robert managed to get hold on Pasha Parfeni from Moldova today who has become during this week pretty big favorite to do well. How did he end up in Eurovision, what his goals are and is his granny better than the ones from Buranovo? And will we get a cover album full of Eurovision later on? Find it out here: Why do you want to participate in Eurovision? That's a very difficult question... I want to be a star! A worldstar, ha ha! But I know it's not easy even in Eurovision, only Celine Dion and ABBA have made it. But I can make myself a bit more known, it's good for promotion. After Eurovision I will finish my album and my promo-CD already has nine songs. We will recod maybe 4-5 more and it will make a good album. With what result will you be happy here? Happy? … Top-10! Then I'll be absolutely happy! So if you don't get to the final you will be totally depressed? Yes, maybe... Yes, it would be hard. For me and my team. What are y

GOODBYE, FAREWELL...

The time has come. After all these years, 5,7 million visits, 12.000 articles I guess the time has come. As much as I love and care for Eurovision it just doesn't feel the same. The Corona years took their toll and the past two years and certain decisions have helped me to mature the idea that next year I will hear the songs for the first time in semi-final just like any so called local.  The bubble has burst. Add the toxicity in social medias and fandom. The arrogant teenagers who saw their first contest somewhere 2017 or even 2021 who think they know it all and only their opinion matters. Did I mention the toxic atmosphere on social medias? I'm too old for that sh*t. It's been a long ride that took me to various Eurovision on spot as a fan and tourist,  as a journalist, as a delegation member. I met some great people, made memories of lifetime. In stressful, sad periods of my life this blog has been my safe place, a place to escape and forget everything else for an hour o

Summer songs: Kylie Minogue - On a night like this

This is one of the songs that make me think of sweaty summer nights, humid air and being slightly drunk... I wonder where that all comes from? Anyways. Kylie Minogue recorded On a night like this, maybe not first but better than Pandora or Anna Vissi . And Lord which is actually great!

FINLAND: CONGRATS HANNA PAKARINEN - BABY IS COMING!

No more leave me alones as Eurovision 2007 veteran Hanna Pakarinen has published in her Youtube channel a video unboxing the Finnish state's maternity box aka layette set thus announcing she's due to have a baby later this spring. Congratulations!

CAROLA'S BOOBS STEAL THE SHOW, SVT APOLOGIES

Update! Another thing got Swedes talking last night: Carola's boobs when she was giving away an award. This is not the first time her boombs cause headlines; her misfortunate adventures in the 80's in Japan wer explained with her boobs being too big for Japanese market. Ok.... Or was it the song ? Anyways, Carola apologies and says she thinks the dress is stylish and elegant (even her friends said so) and she's a mature woman in her 40s, not a 16-year-old girl and looks like one. The Swedish Oscars, Guldbagge awards were given out last night. Carola was there as a guest star to sing Barbra Streisand's The way we were when honoring the movie stars who passed away during 2012. However, the cameras were too much on Carola, not on the stars showed in photos in the background and that upset many viewers as that part of the show was to celebrate them, not Carola. Oh well...  The producer of the show tells in Aftonbladet the part of the show was made the sam

GREECE: HELENA PAPARIZOU HITS AGAIN WITH HAIDE

Eurovision song contest 2005 winner Helena Paparizou has been enjoying Top-5 hits every year since 2003 with the exception of 2010 and 2014, this latest one being already her 27th! And Haide is charting also in Bulgaria and Finland, of all places. The catchiness of her hits has changed less over the years than her face....  Here's the English version , below the Greek version.
