FINLAND: HERE ARE THE EMMA GAALA FEMALE ARTIST NOMINEES

Last but not least, here are the nominees for the Female Artist of the Year. One real veteran, one recordbreaking looking for a trple, two who have gone solo from succesful duos and one that whose talent has blossomed in Vain elämää and will do amazing things in the future...
I guess it's predictable this goes to Vesala, as Sanni winning it again would be a bit boooring. Kaija Koo might surprise but most likely not. I'd give this to Suvi Teräsniska, she has proven to be not only loved by public but also being a Talent in Vain elämää. Amazing singer and voice. Go Suvi!

Erin (ex-Nylon Beat) returned to her successful solo career after three years of silence and two kids. Her solo debut back in 2011 sold triple platinum and had several hits, the second one sold platinum and gave her more hits and this one released last month has already Sydäntä särkee and Kohta hänen. Maija Vilkkumaa has been involved in writing this album.

Kaija Koo's success continues with songs written by Maija Vilkkumaa, Erin, Paula Vesala, VilleGalle and Ellinoora among others. She's been around for 30 years and more popular than ever. Siniset tikkaat was #1 in radioplay and #2 in download, Nää yöt ei anna armoo #1 in download and #6 in the official singles chart.

Sanni won this award in 2014 and 2015, maybe she'll do triple? Three platinum albums in three years. Three top-2 hits this year: Että mitähän vittua (she made a new streaming record in a day in Finland with this, over 300.000 in the day of release), Vahinko and Oo se kun oot, and the latest Ku Kanye Kanyee. She also took part in Vain elämää that made her known in all age groups and showcased she's much more than just a pop artist with a blue hair and provocative lyrics.

Suvi Teräsniska did Vain elämää and conquered new audiences of those who thought she's just a schlager singer, got married, had two babies and returned with a new updated sound and more personal #1 album. No need for videos or singles, she still sells albums....

Vesala aka Paula Vesala, ex-PMMP, ex-wife of The Rasmus' Lauri has been studying in the US, written countless songs to other artists after PMMP (one of the most succesful bands in Finland ever) was over, acted succesfully in the movies, did Vain elämää.... and finally released her solo album this year with hits Tequila (#4, radio #1), Tytöt ei soita kitaraa (radio #7), En tunne sua (from Elastinen Feat.), Älä droppaa mun tunnelmaa (#5, radio #2) and Ei pysty hengittää.

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further? No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

GOODBYE, FAREWELL...

The time has come. After all these years, 5,7 million visits, 12.000 articles I guess the time has come. As much as I love and care for Eurovision it just doesn't feel the same. The Corona years took their toll and the past two years and certain decisions have helped me to mature the idea that next year I will hear the songs for the first time in semi-final just like any so called local. The bubble has burst. Add the toxicity in social medias and fandom. The arrogant teenagers who saw their first contest somewhere 2017 or even 2021 who think they know it all and only their opinion matters. Did I mention the toxic atmosphere on social medias? I'm too old for that sh*t. It's been a long ride that took me to various Eurovision on spot as a fan and tourist, as a journalist, as a delegation member. CAROLA'S BOOBS STEAL THE SHOW, SVT APOLOGIES

Update! Another thing got Swedes talking last night: Carola's boobs when she was giving away an award. GREECE: HELENA PAPARIZOU HITS AGAIN WITH HAIDE

Eurovision song contest 2005 winner Helena Paparizou has been enjoying Top-5 hits every year since 2003 with the exception of 2010 and 2014, this latest one being already her 27th!
